As St. Tammany Parish and the entire State of Louisiana continue through the reopening phases from COVID-19, I definitely feel spotlighting the Parish itself is worth another post. After all, the community is a major reason why the Northshore is an ideal choice to call home.
Our Schools
Naturally, our seniors’ graduation ceremonies looked a little different this year. That didn’t stop several of the drive-through celebrations, such as the one for Pearl River High School. If you have yet to see the 20-second commencement speech challenge, check out the kickoff here. Kudos to the St. Tammany Parish Schools for gearing up for the upcoming school year by preparing safe, well-thought plans and procedures. Perhaps this is just one of the reasons our school district is in the top 14% in the state?
Our Nature
The experts agree that heading outdoors for fresh air and exercise are good for your mental and physical health. We are thrilled to see so many of our walking paths, trails and fishing piers are open. Please be sure to heed notices of hours and any restrictions. For the latest updates, click here.
Our Community
The St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce is doing a remarkable job with their Keeping St. Tammany Strong Together campaign. In addition to providing up-to-date information about state reopening plans and procedures, they went a step further. The comprehensive Back-to-Business Tool Kit includes policies, sample reopen plan, posters and resource links. Don’t forget the Tourist and Convention Commission (Louisiana Northshore) keeps us apprised of hours and offerings for local shops and restaurants. And, Northshore Technical Community College took time out to hold a drive-by food drive at all campuses to replenish the Parish’s food banks.
As we progress through the COVID pandemic and return to the “new normal,” I have become even more aware of St. Tammany Parish’s strength and spirit. The Northshore has come to be known for being an incomparable place to live. Of course, we were hoping we could keep that secret just a little while longer.
