By the time a typical November rolls around in St. Tammany Parish, we would have enjoyed a plethora of festivals, fairs and other fun activities. As with the last several months, we have experienced cancellations of too many events to name. However, what I love most about our Parish is how it keeps things going! This month, three art events are attracting my attention, all in one day, November 14!

The Northshore is known for its amazing offerings of fine and visual arts.

Art Event #1 – Covington Three Rivers Virtual Art Festival

I have always loved seeing the exciting and eclectic array of art displayed during this festival. While in years past we have been awed by the two-day extravaganza, this year the fun can still be had virtually. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can partake in the show via their Facebook page. You will have the opportunity to meet the artists, ask questions and purchase art. The event supports local artists, along with art education in area schools.

Art Event #2 – Olde Towne Slidell Art Market

The second Saturday of every month is a little extra special, thanks to this art fair presented by Green Oaks Apothecary and Olde Towne Slidell Association. It is a fantastic opportunity to see the latest from local artisans while enjoying live music and more, all with the cool autumn weather, from 4 to 9 p.m.

Art Event #3 – Second Saturday Art Walk

The historic St. John’s District showcases extra flair on the second Saturday of the month in Covington. From 6 to 9 p.m., the town spotlights intriguing artwork from local vendors. I love to stroll through the streets, then enjoy a delicious meal at one of the many wonderful restaurants in town.

The arts are always cool on the Northshore, and we appreciate the positive impact they have on our Parish. Now is the perfect time to enjoy those cool arts in the cool weather!
