The weather is getting cooler, the fall colors are starting to turn and it is all kinds of pumpkin fun! You will truly be out of your gourd for these three events: Pumpkin Party #1 The St. Tammany Parenting Center is again hosting Monster Mash on Saturday, October 23, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bogue Falaya Park in Covington. Mandeville is a First for Me, Part II

2021-05-28T18:34:37-04:00May 28th, 2021|Blog, Uncategorized|

As I reported in last month’s post, my most recent visit to Mandeville resulted in starting out with a big breakfast. You would think that meal would suffice my energy needs for the day, however I had to take advantage of the outrageously delicious food this town offers. But first, some calorie burning! Nature is calling at Northlake Nature Center. Stop #1 – A Nature Lover’s Paradise I cannot believe I have missed this incredible place until now. Right across the street from Fontainebleau State Park is Northlake Nature Center. The park covers 400 acres, with miles of

Mandeville is a First for Me

2021-04-30T17:02:17-04:00April 30th, 2021|Blog, Uncategorized|

The first town I visited when I ventured outside New Orleans was Mandeville, and it was love at first bite. My feelings for this magical town haven't changed. I recently had a few extra hours one day, so I headed over to one of my favorite spots. First-Place Food When you see this artwork on the outside, you just know it's going to have good food on the inside! I am not a big breakfast fan (bring on the cheeseburger), however whenever I do eat in the a.m., I like to indulge in a delicious meal at a

Let the Good Times Roll

We all know Mardi Gras is looking quite a bit different this year, with the pandemic still a major concern for St. Tammany Parish and the entire state. Leave it to our wonderful locale to come up with some incredible, enjoyable options to celebrate the purple, green and gold of the season. Parade Around Your Home While the usual parades are not happening in 2021, you can still enjoy one. That’s because you can take in the sights of a parade with house floats! Dozens of homes and businesses throughout downtown Covington are fabulously decked out in the most amazing

The Year’s Elite Eight Positives

As we close out this year of a global pandemic, economic constraints and overall increased stresses, it is easy to focus on the negatives over the past 12 months. While it may be challenging to think of the positives, it makes it easier when you think about our favorite place, St. Tammany Parish. Here are just eight examples: Beautiful holiday lights shine brightly throughout St. Tammany Parish. Photo courtesy of Joanie Johnston of LouisianaNorthshore.com. The Residents – The people who live in St. Tammany Parish seem to share one common trait, a true sense of community. The Golden

As with everything else in 2020, the holidays will look and feel a little different. However, they will still be merry and bright! St. Tammany Parish offers so many wonderful sights and sounds during the month of December. While there are too many to name here, I have selected a few that are definitely worth experiencing. St. Tammany Parish is full of bright lights and merriment during the holidays. Santa in Slidell Olde Towne Slidell is a magical place anytime during the year. On December 5, the town gets into the spirit with the Community Christmas Parade. The

Get Outside, Inside St. Tammany Parish

This time last year, we were gearing up for some amazing fall festivals. As with spring and summer, autumn is definitely different for the 2020 season. One of the many things I love about St. Tammany living is you never lack for outdoor activities. Social distancing is somewhat built-in! Here are three cool options to enjoy as the weather cools: Leisure in Lacombe The first time I tried to paddleboard may likely be my last. While I knew my balance was a little off due to less exercise during coronavirus, I had no idea just how much it was! That’s

Park It Here in St. Tammany Parish

2020-07-27T14:08:43-04:00July 27th, 2020|Blog, Uncategorized|

We all know the coronavirus has taken its toll on so many things this year. Being able to socially distance is more important than ever, so I have three park recommendations to enjoy the great outdoors in St. Tammany Parish. Park #1 - Fontainebleau State Park This photo of the Fontainebleau Pier is so beautiful, it almost looks like a painting! If you are looking for amazing sights while getting in some exercise, Fontainebleau is the place to be. The park is named after a recreation area near Paris beloved by the founder of Mandeville. Located along the
